The emergence of new technologies allows the possibilities of bringing closure to formerly unsolved cases in which tips may have been previously exhausted and suspects have not been arrested. Fifteen years ago, on April 3, 2001, the body of Gabrielle Mueller, 31, was discovered in a wooded area off Salem Street in Lakewood, NJ. This area is in close proximity to the Lakewood Industrial Park.

Gabrielle Mueller resided in Toms River with her two children. Gabrielle was last seen alive during the evening hours of Sunday, April 1, 2001. The following morning, Monday April 2, 2001, the Toms River Police Department was contacted and she was reported as a Missing Person. After Thirty Years Louisiana Inmate Reveals Involvement In Murder Of Maria Marshall

Toms River, NJ – Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced today the results of a twelve month cooperative investigation which resulted in an admission by Larry Thompson, 71, of Louisiana in his involvement in the shooting death of Maria Marshall almost thirty years ago.  Mrs. Marshall was shot at approximately 12:30 AM on September 7, 1984 in a picnic area of the Garden State Parkway in Lacey Township, Ocean County, New Jersey.  What makes this cold case most news worthy is that fact that an Atlantic County Jury found Thompson not guilty of Maria Marshall’s murder on March 5, 1986 due to a false alibi presented on behalf of Thompson.  See more
